Swarm | Oil Painting Bag | Mixed Blooms

This bag began as someone else’s painting. Constructed from a reclaimed oil painting canvas sourced from a European market, the Mixed Blooms carries the quiet history of an unknown hand.  Dense, richly layered brushwork depicting a tumbling arrangement of chrysanthemums and wildflowers in yellow, white, dusty pink and amber, set against a deep warm ground of ochre and brown.

This canvas has lived a long life. The surface shows the marks of time; fine craquelure, worn passages, the texture of paint applied and aged over decades. None of this has been hidden. It is precisely what makes this bag what it is.

The reverse panel continues the floral composition, here rendered in olive and gold tones, the blooms softer and more abstract with age and wear. A broad panel of worn leather runs across the back, adding another layer of reclaimed material to the story. Raw edges and visible stitching are left intentional throughout, evidence of the work, not a flaw.

A dark tan leather crossbody strap with brass buckle hardware allows the bag to be worn across the body or over the shoulder. The interior is lined in natural cotton with a single patch pocket, finished with a red Swarm wax seal, Leslie Oschmann’s mark.
