Swarm | Oil Painting Bag | Landscape

This bag began as someone else’s painting. Constructed from a reclaimed oil painting canvas sourced from a European market, the Landscape carries the quiet history of an unknown hand.  Broad, impressionistic brushwork depicting a sun-drenched countryside scene, with trees rendered in amber, rust and olive against a warm golden sky. The paint surface is richly textured, built up in thick impasto strokes that catch the light as the bag moves.

The canvas has been cut, pieced, and sewn into a relaxed crossbody form, with visible stitching and raw edges left intentional; evidence of the work, not a flaw. Each panel draws from a different part of the original composition, so the front and reverse tell the landscape from two different vantage points. The artist’s signature is visible, faint and painted, in the lower field.

A long tan leather strap with adjustable buckle hardware allows the bag to be worn across the body or over the shoulder. The interior is lined in natural cotton, finished with a red Swarm wax seal, Leslie Oschmann’s mark.
