Birdie is a wide-brimmed hat by UK hat maker Gil Fox. The rounded crown is worked in a fine herringbone braid that spirals out from the top, and the brim flows outwards from it, broad and soft. Its edge rises and falls in a gentle, uneven wave, and it's left raw, with a few loose fibres where it finishes.

Partway around the crown sits a piece of metallic thread lace, with a leaf motif reaching up towards the top of the hat. Below the lace runs a fine garland of millinery blossoms, buds and stamens on slender stems, arranged so it follows the curve of the crown. Together the lace and flowers give Birdie a delicate, old-world charm, and the relaxed brim keeps it easy to wear.
