A hat that wears its character openly. Gil Fox has shaped a tall, rounded crown and a generous wide brim from a fine, closely woven straw, worked in a continuous spiral from the crown outward. The brim edge is softly undulating rather than pressed flat, so it falls a little differently each time it is worn.

A band of vintage-style lace appliqué winds around the base of the crown, its scalloped shapes lifting and dipping across the weave. At one side sits a millinery flower with a full, layered head of narrow petals and clustered stamens, gathered with a looped silk ribbon and a sprig of leaves.

The variations in tone, the small irregularities in the weave and the softly worn edge are part of its making, not flaws to be overlooked. Each one is individual, so no two will be quite alike.
