The Bay Basket is a structured but smooth textured oversized carry-all designed with traditional shaping. Crafted meticulously by hand in South India, these baskets take up to one week to construct.
The leather is from a sustainable source and is organically vegetable-dyed by hand, using extracts from various trees. This is a traditional tanning process. The baskets are made by women with a long tradition of weaving fishing nets and straw baskets.
The work provides employment and has been instrumental in improving the lives of these incredibly skilled women and their families. The traditional weaving techniques produce a beautiful sturdy bag, built to last a lifetime.

Their signature washed leather is organically dyed, ethically sourced and certified by the Leather Working Group. Being an organic material, the grain and colour of each piece is unique and may vary slightly.
To keep your leather in good condition, we recommend protecting it with a water-based protective spray or cream made specifically for aniline leather. Using oil-based leather care may darken or discolour your accessory. Avoid leaving your leather bag in the sun to prevent fading and the leather drying out.
