Oil on canvas
Framed in Australian hardwood timberDimensions are 1260mm x 950mm including the frame.
Lizabeth Souness lives on the border of NSW and Victoria near the Murray River on a small farm with her husband Jayson, an assortment of chooks (all with names), their ginger cat Monty who we rescued several years ago and a lop-eared rabbit named Lucky.
The Australian landscape is what fascinates and keeps her enthralled with its rich textures, colours and light, the moods and changes to the seasons weaving their interminable magic into her very being.
She revels in the process of making art, painting plein-air (outdoors) or in her studio. When creating, it is her intention to evoke a feeling of discovery: Explore the landscape intuitively, showing glimpses of patterns, mark making and suggested symbolism, layering and linking each section, building a visual story using an abstracted painterly language.
Lizabeth enjoys working with oils, acrylics and watercolours. Each medium requires different approaches, making the journey of painting an exciting one.
She exhibits regularly and has been a finalist in the Mosman, CAC Fisher’s Ghost and NSW Parliament Plein Air art prizes. Her work is held in collections both here in Australia and Internationally.
