We won’t mention any names but tres exciting! Surplus of this kind is known as ‘deadstock’ in the fashion industry. It is highly sought after by small independent labels like ES. Needless to say we are delighted to incorporate it into our offering.
This fabric is a blend of linen & TENCEL™ (here after referred to as tencel). This is a new fabrication for us so we thought we’d take the opportunity to dive a little deeper into the facts about tencel.
Tencel is in fact a brand name for a set of fibers called lyocell and modal. Much like the brand Band-Aids describes small bandages or Kleenex describes paper based facial tissues. Tencel is a man-made fabric developed by the Austrian textile company Lenzing. It is manufactured from the wood and cellulose of sustainably harvested Eucalyptus trees. A tree which grows quickly without need of irrigation, pesticides, fertilizers or genetic manipulation.
It is then produced through a closed loop system that recovers 99% of the non-toxic chemicals needed to break down the wood into fibre. This closed loop system is powered by bio-energy. The raw fabric that’s produced is also pure white, meaning no bleaching is needed to strip the fibre of colour before dying (unlike cotton). All in all, Tencel is about as sustainable a material as it gets.
Tencel ticks lots of the right boxes which is why the fashion world is embracing it. Lets run through these.
ABSORBENCY - It wicks moisture from the skin 50% quicker than cotton.
BREATHABILITY - Helping to maintain and regulate the temperature of the body (in other words in keeps you cool in hot weather)
ANTI-BACTERIAL - Naturally odour resistant meaning your clothes smell fresher for longer; less washing is a good thing
COMFORT - The fine fibres make it incredibly soft and comfortable to wear.
IT'S STRONG WHEN WET - This gives tencel the benefit of being able to be machine or hand washed without needing to worry about the material stretching or losing its shape.
IT DOESN’T CRINKLE OR CREASE - Tencel is one of the rare fabrics that doesn’t crinkle or crease easily
IT'S BIODEGRADABLE - Tencel is a 100% natural material made from wood pulp, meaning that it can fully biodegrade. Tests show that half the material is broken down after just 3 months which is around double the speed of cotton.
IT HOLDS COLOUR WELL AND IS EASY TO DYE - This means limited garment fading.
GREAT FOR SENSITIVE SKIN - Tencel has the added benefit of being great for allergy prone or sensitive skin. It’s soft smooth fibre feels kind as it gently drapes on your skin and wicks any moisture quickly away. It helps keep the skin dry and avoids irritations.
So when combined with a wonderful natural fiber like linen, these two make a pretty special blend. And don't even get us started on the fabulous drape, sheen and overall luxe hand feel of this new fabric in our range.
Don't be concerned about caring for your Nic Edit garments as you are basically following the same care regime as for 100% linen fabrications. Lets take a moment to recap those.
Washing
Hand washing is not necessary & nor is dry cleaning. Wash at a low temperature (max. 30°C) using the wool wash or delicates cycle. Use an eco-friendly wool wash detergent as this is less aggressive than normal laundry formulations.
We suggest turning your garment inside out - it will reduce the friction on the fabric. Another important tip is not overloading your machine – heavy loads will increase friction and add to wear & tear. Don't use fabric softener. And as always: less is more! Wash as little as possible and always wash your items with similar colors.
Drying
Don't leave garments sitting wet in the machine. Give them a gentle shake out to reduce creasing and hang to dry immediately. Avoid direct sunlight. A great tip in winter is to dry close to a heated towel rack if you have one. Do not tumble dry.
Ironing & Steaming
Steaming is the gentle option but you may not have one. If you iron has a good steam setting then hover the iron over your garment expressing steam as you go. Alternatively gently press your garment inside out using a warm setting.

With a childhood partly spent in PNG, and then a decade-long career as a gallery owner in Ubud, Bianca has a history of adventure and travel. She exudes a natural curiosity for people and place.
When Bianca describes her customer it is all too familiar “I meet the most amazing women and have incredible conversations. In a way I learn from them. They are teaching me how to live. They are all living in the now. These women have had their children, their careers, and now they are living for themselves. Not in a selfish way, but in an inspiring way. They have no inhibitions, they are literally ‘we are who we are’ and we are going to wear amazing clothes, adorn ourselves in beautiful jewelry & put on red lipstick. I think they are fantastic. These women are out there living their best lives & have become inspirational to my work."
Zoe is holding the Bailer Earrings & wearing the Dot Motif Stacking Bracelets
EWA Tribal Jewelry has a distinctively timeless feel to it as Bianca pays no mind to current fashion trends. She goes with instinct, drawing on her world-wide inspiration. Constantly creating & constantly working, there is nothing standard about her creative practice.
Sometimes while combing through her extensive library even a small element will catch her eye and be transformed into a new piece. This process is ongoing and as organic as the work she produces from her beautiful Port Douglas studio.
Zoe is wearing the Seim Luxe Earrings, the Onyx Ring, the Yamok Ring, the Big Bone Ring & a Chunky Stacking Ring.
Including the word 'Tribal' in the name of the business was significant. The word pays respect to her heritage, her influences and her deep relationship with Papua New Guinea where she spent part of her childhood and Indonesia where she lived and worked for a decade creating the EWA Tribal gallery with her mother Francesca. The jewelry is rooted in her own traditions but also her significant ongoing relationship with tribal cultures and aesthetics from these incredible regions.
“I was in Ubud for 10 years running EWA Tribal art gallery, with amazing pieces from our collection. It was an almost perfect way to spend my 30’s. It was stimulating, it was creative, it was living completely outside of the norm and learning another language. I ran a non profit school in Bali to teach the girls conversational English, girls from farming backgrounds who normally drop off the education system. It was just incredible. I’ve had so many amazing experiences. Challenging ones, hard ones as well but all such valuable experiences”.
Zoe is wearing the Dot Motif Stacking Bracelets, the Aibom Earrings, the Big Bone Ring, a Chunky Stacking Ring, the Onyx Ring & the Yamok Ring
Bianca has now carved out a special niche in Port Douglas, with a large airy studio gallery space where life can move at a gentler pace, allowing for the free flow of creativity where Ewa pieces come to life.
This change of pace has been vital to her creative practice. “After 10 years I think it was stimulus overload. My body and mind required some time to centre so I knew it was time to come home. I love Indonesia so much, we’re 4th generation Dutch Indonesian from Java. It was amazing but after 10 years Australia was calling.”
As enviable as Bianca's wonderful life is we are hoping to tempt her down to Melbourne to visit the ES studio in 2023. Bianca isn't immune to big city charms “I love the culture, music, fashion and just being to wander down the little streets & lanes, get lost and find something fantastic. Those types of experiences are given up when you go rural”.
Zoe is wearing the Dot Motif Stacking Bracelets, the Big Bone Ring, & two Chunky Stacking Rings
EWA Tribal Jewelry marries with the new Eva’s Sunday MoMo collection perfectly. The bold scale and organic shapes in silver add a touch of shine and glamor, just so beautiful against the palette of sand, cream, slate, antique black, white, checks and stripes. It’s the exotic look of a well travelled woman seeking independence and adventure at all stages of life. It’s as if Bianca has found a way to imbue her own personal ethos and history into each special piece of EWA Tribal Jewelry.

]]>Line Gauze Scarf in CLOVER
Our linen scarves run from cool neutrals – white, natural, and black all the way through to bold colours – rhubarb, marmalade and merlot. Colours have been chosen with multiple collections, both present and future, in mind. Our advice is to go with the colours that sing to you & resonate with your personal style. That way, you absolutely cannot go wrong.
Linen Gauze Scarf on POMEGRANATE
Don’t get too hung up on being ‘matchy-matchy’. A contrast can add that pop of colour in the same way a great lipstick or earring can. Our styling tip with this new linen gauze scarf range is doubling up scarves for a big colour hit. Here Zoe is wearing dijon & natural, a dreamy colour pairing. Chances are it will be the surprising combinations that bring you the most joy – all the more reason to invest in more than one scarf.
Here we have taken a styling cue from the lovely Lynda Gardener who has made a true art form out of head scarves. If a full head wrap is not your thing try this idea. Knotting the scarf on the side adds drama with length, creating a flamboyant take on any outfit.
Linen Gauze Scarf in WHITE
Elevate your look when you have that weird day-to-night dilemma (love that for you if that’s the case!). The beauty of these babies is that they can stay curled up in your handbag at work until needed – consider the linen gauze scarf an emergency styling superhero.
Linen Gauze Scarf in MELLOW ROSE
Starch and iron for a big pussy bow statement, divine in the mellow rose colour way shown here on Zoe. So its quite simple really. A few key ES pieces and a handful of linen gauze scarves – did someone say ideal carry-on luggage? We fully endorse using your scarf purchases to justify booking flights - this makes perfect sense to us.
WORDS BY RAMONA BARRY
The next consideration is how the current range will work back into the previous range. It is critical for us that movement from one collection to the next feels seamless and makes sense. We are not a fast fashion label so our collections need to work together on the rack - in the same way that they need to work together in your wardrobe.
This requires a skilled eye at the fabric selection phase. It also requires a fluid mindset. It’s not unheard of that a fabric may become unavailable at the 11th hour. On the flipside, sometimes we discover a new fabric very late in the planning phase which simply has to join the collection. It's serendipity.
But there's another reason that our garments layer together cohesively. We think about the individual styles as building block pieces. Each one as a strong seperate in its own right. But the magic really happens when they are bought together. It becomes a system of dressing. As you grow your ES wardrobe you are adding to the number of building blocks and therefore increasing the number of outfit combinations. Hopefully that makes sense. I might leave it there for now before it turns into a maths equation!
Layer 1 | Hannah Jumpsuit in bluestone stripe | Lovely on its own or layered to perfection | Add your favourite linen shirt underneath or over the top.
Layer 2 | The Emili Top in blue mirage | A flowing linen top with elongated sides. Layer over pants, dresses or a jumpsuit.
It’s no secret that linen is a breathable fabric that is great to wear in summer. But what about wearing linen in winter?
At Eva’s Sunday we are firm believers that linen should be worn all year round. Our garments are designed to be layered!
]]>It is no secret that linen is a breathable fabric, making it especially functional to wear in summer. But what about wearing linen in winter? Of course you can. There is no reason at all that your lovely linen garments should be packed away between seasons. This is one of the reasons we describe Eva's Sunday as a transeasonal label. And by taking a transeasonal approach to your wardrobe the intention should be to shop less, make considered purchases and get more wear out of the pieces in your wardrobe.
Having a transeasonal wardrobe means you need to understand the concept of layering. It's a word that gets thrown around in fashion circles but what does it actually mean? Simple. It means the combining of seperate garments to build an overall outfit that looks amazing from an aesthetic standpoint and is appropriate for the weather conditions in your environment.
Australia's climate varies greatly throughout the eight states and territories. There are four seasons across most of our country and a wet and dry season in the tropical north. But depending on which state you reside in your experience of winter for example will differ. The Melbourne version of winter is nothing like the Queensland version!
As an Australian designed label primarily worn by Australians & New Zealanders, we must design our collections to suit these different versions of the same season. In other words we need to make sure there is something for everyone in every collection.
I love that Melbourne has four very distinct seasons (and sometimes four seasons in one day!). From a fashion standpoint it means you get to experience all versions of dressing. Using shoes as the analogy its the strappy sandle (summer), to the ankle boot (autum), the knee high boot (winter) then the ballet flat (spring).
1. Layer your Linen
Our first tip for creating your winter look is adding layers. It’s no secret that the more layers of clothing you have on, the warmer you will be.
This tip is especially useful in ares with intemperate conditions (like Melbourne, where the weather changes every five minutes!).
If you’re worried about a chill, you can wear a knitted undershirt or a pair of thick jeans and boots with your favourite linen top. Thick base layers (undershirts, tights, and knee socks) look great with our linen pieces. They are designed to be layered and worn in every way.
2. Long Top Layers
They key to wearing linen in winter is investing in a high quality jacket. At Eva’s Sunday, many of our jackets have 100% linen outers plus extra lining on the inside for cooler weather.
For example, the Woodsman Cape (pictured above) has a 100% polyester lining.
Longer outer layers will help to shield you from the wind.
3. Mix and Match Materials
Wearing linen in winter doesn’t mean you have to wear a full linen outfit. You can pick your favourite linen dress and wear woollen tights underneath and thick coat on top. There’s no reason why you can’t make a statement with your favourite linen piece and layer it with your warmer winter items.
4. Accessories Count
Ever noticed that your if hands, feet, or head are cold, the rest of your body is too? Focus on accessories for these body parts and you are sure to stay warm - whatever material you are wearing.
Invest in a good pair of knee high boots. Thick boots that cover your legs can be worn with anything and look great with a pair of loose linen pants.
Thick socks, beanies, tights, gloves, and scarves will come in handy throughout winter. Use these accessories to pad out your linen items so they don't get left on the hanger all season.
Wool is your best friend.

We popped in "quickly" at 5pm intending to drop off a customer order and as fate would have it, exited some 6 hours later. We got to the half way mark, that point at which all you want to do is delete changes or hit the backspace bar. Aagghh.
We refuelled with pizza then pushed on! Dan, as always, dug deep and found her magic dust, sprinkling it from one end of the store to the other. Ok well not quite like that. Anyhow the final result was an art form - and we all know that can't be rushed!
Look at our beautiful apothecary storage unit - found at Used Pty Ltd in Fitzroy.
Our copper lights came out of the Melbourne GPO.
SOH Melbourne candles, Ashley & Co body products and Status Anxiety leather goods (now stocked in our online shop). Dan is leaning on some stunning Sally Campbell cushions.
One Seed perfumes - beautiful packaging, delightful scents.
Heavenly - dried flowers in apothecary jars - a look we love.
]]>At Eva's Sunday we place a high value on creativity which is why so much time, effort and above all LOVE goes into the visual merchandising of our Beechworth store. We know you value it too - the "ooohs" and "ahhhhs" echoed by so many of you as you wander the stores are a bit of a giveaway!! Thank you by the way - we love the positive affirmations.
The presentation of the store is, of course, a team effort on an ongoing basis but several times per year the store gets a unique makeover by the very talented Danni Townsend O'Neil (above). It is an organic and to be honest somewhat excruciating process - at least it feels that way halfway through. But at the end - pure joy!!
Danni, where does the inspiration come from when you begin a store visual re-merch?
There is a degree of planning but its organic and it's in my mind's eye. I don't sit down with a blank piece of paper and draw up a scheme. It tends to evolve on site and can differ between stores. Ideas are triggered by products we are carrying in each store, by colour, by texture.
Merchandising by colour provides a sense of cohesiveness to the store and allows the eye to travel to areas of interest. It creates spaces which tell little stories.
How long does the process typically take?
I am very often half way through and I just want to press the backspace or undo button. UNDO UNDO!! At that point, there is nowhere to go besides forward and it can be really really overwhelming. It can be a difficult process for others to watch, especially when I pull down an area that is almost complete because I've had a better idea!!
We get constant comments on the props, tables etc. Can you share any sourcing secrets with ES customers?
Fitting out a store from scratch is a huge job and requires a concentrated search for the right pieces. We have some favourite suppliers and these include Red Ramia in Myrtleford (the town our head office is based in, 3.5 hours North East of Melbourne), Nook Vintage in Smith St Fitzroy and markets like Camberwell, Mill Markets in Daylesford & Castlemaine. Lots of props have also come from my personal collection - I have been hunting and gathering for as long as I can remember!!
In the (now closed) Glenferrie Rd Hawthorn store an old mattress frame doubles as a floral installation and racking for the clothing.
Why do you think visual merchandising is so important in our stores?
I think customers draw a lot of inspiration from the experience of visiting our stores. Sure they are coming mainly to find a new clothing piece or an outfit but I think that the creativity speaks to people and perhaps give them the confidence to experiment more at home. A lot of shopping environments are very vanilla, same-same. I am constantly looking for ways to mix it up.
What feeds your creativity?
In the last 18 months or so I have taken up photography as a creative outlet. It has been an amazing experience. My approach is organic, I am self-taught and very experimental. It is addictive and has fuelled my creativity enormously which has an overflow effect into my work at ES.
The window installation at the Beechworth store is getting lots of attention. Can you tell us about that?
I wanted to create something big, for maximum visual impact. I also wanted to focus on the fabrics in our latest collection. Fortunately, there are often fabrics left over from our sampling process so one afternoon I took to the pile and began ripping long strips, embracing the fraying edges. I then began a simple weaving technique, freehand and without a loom. It was tedious to begin with but quickly a very textural, loose and organic formation came to life and it now hangs in the window. Customers have loved it and wanted to buy it!!
This loose and organic wall hanging fills the Beechworth Store front window. It uses fabrics from the Poppy Collection.
Tell us about the wire light shade frames also displayed at the Beechworth store?
I happen to think these are one of the most underrated items ever - and the older the better. I love to strip the fabric off to display just the "nude" frames. They add interest and varying heights to a display and at the same time they don't block any line of sight. They are becoming trickier to find - we are not the only ones who love these simple, structural frames it seems!

A C L A S S I C C O U N T R Y S T Y L E S U C C E S S S T O R Y
Making it in the fashion world is never easy. It takes dedication, passion, long hours of hard work and a little something special. Eva's Sunday is proud to have all that rewarded wth a special article in the latest edition of high-profile fashion magazine 'Country Style'.
Being a successful local designer of quality women's linen clothing is one thing. Being a true local success story just adds to the magic. It is interesting to read the journey of how these two sisters from different backgrounds, then come to join together in creating something truly special and truly their own.
Danni Townsend-O'Neil had moved to Myrtleford with her husband Dave and their two sons a decade ago. She was running a unique store - The Vintage Goat. It was an unusual enterprise that expressed her love of vintage and classic design... and goats. The turning point came in 2016 with the store closing. This was when Danni's true love - fashion - found a life of its own. She and her sister Nic MacIsaac decided to take over a fledging women's label called Eva's Sunday.
Today, the brand is a dynamic collaboration between Danni, living in picturesque Myrtleford and Melbourne-based Nic, who is able to use her business background and business savvy. It doesn't hurt when you have all that with a little design and fashion sense thrown in. As CEO, Nic takes care of the business management and marketing for Eva's Sunday.
Nic: "I was a milliner for a while, and I imported pashmina shawls. I also had a business called Magnolia Square, supporting creative talent and giving a platform for people to showcase their creativity."
Like the signature fashion of Eva's Sunday itself, it was all about things coming together. Nic bought out Eva's Sunday - originally started by another designer - and the sisters pooled their talents. Danni had already been designing for and selling ES designs at her former store, so it all made sense. There was a certain serendipity about the birth of their new enterprise.
A renovated old hardware outlet became Danni's industrial-style design studio in her beloved Myrtleford. She transformed what was a fluorescent green interior into a moody artistic canvas for her creativity.
Danni: "It's great to have a beautiful big space like this in Myrtleford."
It's no surprise that the clean lines of the designs are a hallmark of the label. Danni works with only the barest essentials like a single sewing machine in the studio. That flow of energy that runs through her design work and captures her own inspirations. Danni is not only the creative director for the label, but the aesthetic coordinator, stylist, collection photographer, editor and videographer.
Nic: "She's the sort of woman who puts up walls and takes them down, puts up lighting, and gets up there with a drill and hammer. She not only designs the collections - she shoots them too."
The collections utilise natural fibres, hence the use of luxurious linen. These are classic designs that don't date and, like the sisters themselves, work well together. The sisters make a point that their label is about style with longevity.
Nic: "We're very anti-fast fashion and the original concept was linen: that's what attracted Dan's eye in the first place. We believe fashion is not something you need to update every few weeks."
Eva's Sunday offer tasteful and timeless pieces that have a special place in your wardrobe. The colour palettes are specifically chosen so they work in harmony.
Not all families can work together, but it's clear that these sisters have something special, something that helps them thrive in each other's creativity, skills and feeds their shared passion.
Like sparks of inspiration, the sisters fire off each other.
Nic: "We live and breathe Eva's Sunday. Every day I'm blown away by Dan's ability. I love working alongside her as she has more energy than anyone I know."
Danni adds: "Nic & I have always dabbled in little things and helped each other out at times. It's really nice to be working with her now."
Eva's Sunday has grown from what was solely an online store; to four retail stores; one in the historic town of Beechworth, two in Melbourne and the newly opened outlet in Albury, NSW. Of course, there's the Myrtleford studio where each design begins.

[Postscript : Since the publishing of this story there have been a few changes for Eva's Sunday. The Covid-19 pandemic forced the closure of 3 of our boutiques ... Albury, Hawthorn and our original store at 181 Brunswick Street Fitzory and our Myrtleford Studio. We are extremely grateful that our store in the beautiful township of Beechworth weathered the storm.
We are however very happy to say that our label survived the pandemic and we have established a lovely studio at 95 Victoria Street Fitzroy. Our studio is also home to a store area that our customers can visit Monday-Frtiday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. Please direct any enquiries to Nic MacIsaac at 0419 159 732].

North by North East Magazine has this week featured a lovely story about Eva's Sunday designer Danni Townsend O'Neil. If you are curious about how we came to be in Myrtleford then follow this link for more!!
The Peony Collection marks the beginning of a lovely friendship. Danni & I have had an ongoing obsession with Liberty of London fabrics since the days of my very first label, NICMAC, where we embellished literally thousands of white t-shirts with the iconic floral designs. Well, it has come full circle.
We have used the Mitsi Valeria print, a small version of the Liberty of London Classic design ‘Mitsi’ (the original being designed by Gillian Farr a studio member of the House of Liberty in the 1950s) in a beautiful summery new top style called Petunia. This top has been produced in very small quantities so don't think about it for too long or you will miss the chance to own one.
The fabric composition we have used is the most famous of all of Liberty's fabrications, the 100% cotton tana lawn, its hand-feel and translucent softness making it a versatile favourite.
Danni & I visited the famous Regent Street London store earlier this year.

If you want something cute and comfortable to wear on the plane, try a relaxed cut pair of women’s linen travel pants with a plain white T. All sorted.
2. Climate Control
A trans-seasonal travel wardrobe will make sure you’re prepared for any climate. Luckily, this miracle fabric is temperature regulating - breathable in hot weather and insulating in cooler climates. It won’t stick to you when you’re in a humid country and you’ve had a sweaty day of exploring. It’s no surprise that the secret to packing a versatile travel wardrobe is layering. When you layer your clothes, you have more options for different weather, without overstuffing your suitcase.
At ES, our garments are designed for layering. Mix and match our versatile range for a complete set of linen travel clothes.
3. Cultural Requirements
There are so many beautiful places to visit - but some of them have religious and cultural standards of dressing. Visit temples, holy ground, and conservative countries without overheating. Pack a pair of long pants and a shirt that covers your shoulders - this way you won’t be caught out in an awkward cultural clash.
4. Timeless Look
We differ from other linen clothing brands with our distinct Eva’s Sunday style. Our designers combine neutral tones, splashes of colour, loose silhouettes, and contemporary cuts to create an ageless range of linen garments that won't spoil your memories.
Look back on your adventures fondly - without getting distracted by your outfit choice. Another advantage is adaptability. So many of our pieces can be styled for a casual day of touring as well as an evening out in your favourite city.
5. Lightweight
If you’re worried about going over your luggage limits, this fabric is the right choice for you. Linen can be folded up to take up less space, and won't weigh much in your suitcase. If you’re worried about wrinkling, just hang out your clothes the night before in your hotel. Or embrace the wrinkle - it’s all part of the fun.

How to Wear a Linen Slip Dress
Linen lovers, take note. These are some of our favourite ways to wear a linen dress. Want to share your own linen look? Get in touch and we can feature you on our blog!
1. Let it speak for itself
These days, we are spoiled for choice, but you can always count on the ES design team to champion simplicity. Sometimes the most obvious choice is the best one.
We believe our designs can speak for themselves - especially in warmer weather. Slip on your dress and let it do what it was designed to do - flatter your figure and let your skin breathe.
In summer and spring, we love seeing our girls rock a linen slip with nothing but a pair of shoes (and maybe a cheeky flower in the hair).
Don’t be afraid of dressing down - there’s too much pressure to present a perfect look these days - we’re all about comfortable designs that let your beauty shine through.
2. Top it up
Top up your linen slip dress look by putting a shirt on underneath.
A long sleeve shirt will keep your arms warm and give your slip dress life during the cooler months.
A short sleeve statement shirt can add a pop of colour, or increase the overall modesty of your outfit (depending on your needs).
Simply put, the right shirt will completely change the style of your basic slip. That’s the beauty of starting with a simple canvas.
3. Focus on your legs
Speaking of staying warm in winter, if you've been searching for dresses to wear over leggings, this is a perfect solution. You can pair your slip with basically anything that will keep you warm down below - jeans, tights, or trousers.
We particularly enjoy a pair of matching linen pants. They look amazing with the slip dress and your outfit will blend seamlessly from top to bottom
You won’t have to hide your bottom half - in fact you can show it off!
A pair of great pants under a dress means you can be mobile without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction. Chase after the kids, go for a walk in the wind. Do it all in head to toe linen luxury.
4. Tie it up
We know that some people think a linen slip dress might fail to show off their figure. Wrong! All you have to do is style it your way. Pick the areas you want to highlight and style accordingly.
We love cinching our dresses in at the waist for a more tailored look. All of our tie belts are linen too - so your accessory with blend easily with your slip.
There are so many ways you can use a tie belt to change your look - one slip dress plus a tie belt equals endless opportunities.
5. Accessorise
A true ES look wouldn't be complete without linen accessories. Move easily from daytime to evening by dressing up your slip with some matching or contrasting adornments. With plenty of Tie Belts, Brooches, Neckpieces and more to choose from, the possibilities are endless! We can't wait to see what you come up with.
We hope our advice gave you the style inspiration you needed!

A pattern of timeless treasures...
The special thing about Liberty of London is its intricate link between art and fashion.
It is the rich and engaging tradition of Liberty that has stood the test of time. It is not merely a name synonymous with a distinctive range of fabrics, Liberty is recognised around the world as a true icon.
How has Liberty of London been able to sustain such an esteemed and inspiring quality?
The secret lies in its ability to constantly evolve without ever losing its elements of style. The Liberty range has always enjoyed a colourful history and it is one that can still be enjoyed to this day.
The gorgeous glory of the Liberty of London story
Liberty has always had an eclectic and fashionable sense of design since its first opening in 1875.
From its humble beginnings by leasing a half a shop at 218a Regent Street with three staff members, Liberty began a long tradition of innovation and evolution.
Shortly after opening, Arthur Liberty printed the very first Liberty fabrics.
He once famously said: "I was determined not to follow existing fashion but to create new ones." This underlying theme has been followed by Liberty of London ever since.
By the mid 1880’s, the store had grown in renown and became the most fashionable place to shop in London. The clientele included some of the famous Pre-Raphaelite artists of the time and Liberty fabrics were soon being used for both clothing and furnishings.
During the 1890’s, Liberty began forging special relationships with many leading English designers. Liberty fabrics soon became a byword for the ultimate in beautiful avant-garde textile designs.
The coming to life of ‘Liberty prints’
Liberty had built their reputation on importing only the finest oriental fabrics, but as demand grew for luxurious fabrics, Liberty began to import undyed fabrics which they hand-printed in England.
Liberty’s partnered with William Morris, who designed some of Liberty’s best-known and most recognisable prints.
It was in the 1920’s that the intricate small floral, paisley and abstract designs were born and became the highly praised ‘Liberty prints’.
The dawn of the exquisite Tana Lawn
The world of textiles was changed forever when the Liberty buyer, William Hayes Dorell, discovered unusual cotton fibres close to Lake Tana in Ethiopia. Full of inspiration, he took them back to England where these special silk-like threads were carefully spun into a lustrous form and then screen printed with brilliant ink.
The lightweight, semi-sheer, soft yet durable qualities made it the perfect canvas for Liberty's most famous prints. It is still an iconic and heavily prized material that hardly feels like it touches the skin.
The marriage of the highest quality fabrics with the very best in design is matched by the fusion of fashion and art. This has always been a cornerstone of the beautiful patterns at Liberty of London.
Over the years, many of the world’s best designers have used Liberty fabrics. From Cacharel, to Jean Muir (who actually worked at Liberty for a time), Mary Quant as well as Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood.
A pattern of continued success
The pattern designs of Liberty are still a special mix of imagination and inspiration.
Liberty Fabrics now boast an archive of more than 50,000 prints. The in-house studio still preserves the passion for art and design excellence by creating artworks that are painted and drawn by hand.
Around 50,000 metres of Liberty fabric is produced per day, all printed in Como in Italy, using both traditional screen-printing techniques and modern digital printing. The entire custom-made process has a team of skilled technicians who oversee an annual production of over 150 different designs.
A Liberty of London fabric pattern remains unique in its ability to be both fashionable and timeless. Quality is something that will always stand the test of time. In the case of Liberty, the reputation rests on the quality of the fabric, the print and the quality of each gorgeous design.
A Liberty of London fabric pattern or garment is in many ways the opposite of ‘fast fashion’. Liberty prints continue to be reinvented with an ability to stay on trend yet retain their enduring style.
The freedom to enjoy a Liberty of London design
The unique beauty of a Liberty of London pattern gives you the means to explore your sense of style.
There are special offerings from Liberty now available at Eva’s Sunday in the form of;
Oscar Wilde was such a devoted fan of Liberty of London that he remarked, “Liberty is the chosen resort of the artistic shopper.” You can take part in that fashionable art with help from Eva’s Sunday.
We are proud to offer stunning designs from the Liberty of London world to you. And remember, if you have any questions, just get in touch.
The fabulous @lynda.gardener wearing our new Leonie Top in striking Liberty Capel (coming soon!).
Introducing a special new garment from our design team. This beautiful jacket has quickly become a favourite!
The stunning Liberty Byzantine print evokes a vintage, romantic feel and the jacket's billowing peasant-style sleeves add to the nostalgia in a cropped length, elegantly skimming the forearm.
Featuring soft gathering and a bound neckline that closes with a single self-covered button. The seams are all French for a high-end finish. Perfection.

The Eva's Sunday store is right in the heart of the town, close to the central roundabout and diagonally opposite the towered old post office which until recently serviced the town for 150 years. Step through our front door for some cosy respite if you are visiting in winter. Remember your woollens and your brolly, we are in the High Country after all and snow does occasionally fall in Beechworth!
Here is the Beechworth store at 83 Ford Street. If you visit, notice the walls. It took Danni a full week to expose those bricks! Our Beechworth store is currently stocking a handpicked selection from Angus & Celeste, Hip Hip Decay, SOH Candles, Rose & Lyle, Blanc & Nero Candles, the Lovers Eclectica and much mush more.
Our store in Beechworth is open 10am - 4pm every day of the week and you will be looked after by one of our divine team members, Sabine or Brooke, depending on which day of the week you visit.
The restoration of the Billson's Brewery back to its former glory has popped this iconic beer & cordial factory and now whiskey bar and cafe back onto the visitors' map. The charming brick towered factory was origianlly established in 1865 and went on to become an award-winning maker of ales. In the last 18 months it has been the passion project of Nathan & Felicity Cowan who have relaunched the business with its original name and just last year released its first beer after a 70 year hiatus. This is a really nice way to wind up the day. There is also a cool barber shop and a carriage museum on site!
Built in 1858, the Telegraph Station is one of several beautifully preserved Gold Era buildings in Beechworth. From this station, acting like the internet of its day, news of the famous Kelly Gang siege at Glenrowan was transmitted. Speaking of Ned, your trip to Beechworth must include a visit to the Beechworth Gaol. There are alsoNed Kelly walking tours daily.
We love that the ES story includes being part of this rural town and region whose natural beauty and picture book backdrops change with the seasons. It certainly provides a never-ending stream of settings for our website & marketing imagery. Pictured below is one of our favourite photo shoot locations - many of you will recognise it from our earlier campaigns. This facade, in Church Street Beechworth, is all that remains of the former Ovens District Hospital built in 1856. It's grandeur and scale reflect the optimism and vision of the gold rush period. Today, we love it for it's austere, cardboard cut out simplicity and reminder of the regions rich history.

Linen and summer, you could say, are a match made in heaven.
Starting points for us are simple. Unfussy top shapes that can be layered or fly solo with a pair of summer linen pants or a skirt. We love the Dolly top as it performs as a camisole for layering over gauze pieces and is just as flattering as a singlet top as the celsius soars. The Dolly linen summer dress (same cut, just longer), in turn, acts as a full slip or solo frock for when clothing needs to be minimal to combat the heat (great over a swimsuit for beach adventures).
For those of you wanting a little more coverage, the Mila top is a must-have and is certainly a staple of ES staff wardrobes. This simple shape is the perfect partner, perhaps, beneath a sweet Francine or Karise jacket for breezy evenings. Summer jacket shapes should be light and breezy, just enough to keep the cool changes at bay.
Don’t count out shorts, either! Trust us when we tell you that a short can be flattering and fine (even for work). The ES Mito has you covered in more ways than one. This classic cut hits most customers mid-knee and is a shortened version of the staple Ginza pant. This Japanese-inspired drop crotch style with lovely detailed pockets and a tie belt elevates this summer staple. Keep an eye out for a new release Mito in the upcoming Blue Mirage capsule range.
ES has a number of linen summer dresses, too, that go from morning market runs to date night glamour. The Danni skirt is a favourite, with a new gauze version dropping in December. It’s a must-have feature in your wardrobe if you’re looking for linen skirts for summer. We are also totally crushing on our new Farrah wrap skirt. This versatile piece can be worked as a full-length wrap, a knee-length skirt with a dramatic drop hem or even a doubling as a dress for those who dare. In a delicious rhubarb shade, the Farrah is just perfect for weddings, parties, or anything!
We’ve always loved extending our accessories range at Eva’s Sunday, and there is no better way to bring some signature style to your summer linen look. Our range of embroidered headbands is divine. Think of them like statement jewellery for added sparkle and sweetness.
Of course, we are just so excited to launch our extended linen scarf range, no better way to add a splash of colour (or surprise) to any outfit. Layer more than one for double the fun. You can pair it with summer linen dresses for the perfect day-to-night look. Or use it as a wrap around your arms on cooler evenings.
Our Paloma hats are picnic perfect and protective at the same time, with a cute flounce at the brim. What better time than the bloom of summer for a fabric flower brooch - trust us when we say you’ll start with one and then want a bunch. Bad wordplay aside, ES accessories can take your summer wardrobe to the next level.
Long-term customers will no doubt be putting their Nellie pants and Molly tops into circulation as the temperature rises. Put those winter boots away and swap them for a trainer or ballet flat. Ditch the layers for breezy shapes and easy wearing.
Can we convince you not to iron? Crushed linen is perfect for the less formal days of summer and can totally change the look of your pieces, both old and new. Just air-dry your ES linens in twisted knots to give them that deliberate and desired pleated look.
Trust us. You’ll look as cool as you feel in Eva’s Sunday summer linen fashion wardrobe!
